KGBTexas Communications, currently ranked No. 9 on Houston Business Journal’s list of Best Places to Work, is looking for a senior PR professional with outstanding communication skills to serve as the agency’s primary client contact and strategic lead for assigned accounts. Day-to-day responsibilities include cultivating and nurturing strong working relationships with clients; developing and implementing effective PR strategies, goals and tactics; planning and executing successful campaigns; fostering solid working relationships with key media contacts and outlets; and analyzing and reporting of campaign performance.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead day-to-day activities of assigned accounts.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong working relationships with client contacts as well as key media contacts and outlets.
  • Develop and implement effective PR strategies, goals and tactics.
  • Secure coverage opportunities.
  • Create thought-leader content, including bylined articles, opinion pieces and other similar materials.
  • Support media-training sessions.
  • Analyze campaign performance and report out results.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of news, trends and events affecting clients’ industries, alerting clients and/or team to relevant information, news and opportunities as appropriate.
  • Event coordination including planning assistance, scheduling, event set-up and break-down, and other similar activities.
  • Work with account teams to manage budgets, alerting senior leadership to challenges or issues.
  • Prepare and distribute client-communication materials, including status reports, billing summaries, agendas, meeting reports and other items as needed.
  • Manage monitoring of media coverage, distribution of clips and coverage information to client and appropriate team members, maintain clip archives, and prepare and distribute campaign-performance impact reports.
  • Support senior leadership team in crisis communications efforts as appropriate.
  • Assist with new business development activities and pro-bono account work as needed.
  • Assist with new employee orientation training as needed.
  • Attend internal meetings including team and departmental meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field.
  • At least three years of professional relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in AP writing style.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to adapt well to change and manage risk and uncertainty with poise.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must work well under changing and multiple deadlines.
  • Manage and organize projects and initiatives with strong attention to detail and excellent work product.
  • Work independently with limited supervision and relative autonomy.
  • Ability to adapt well to change and manage risk and uncertainty with poise.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must work well under changing and multiple deadlines.
  • Manage and organize projects and initiatives with strong attention to detail and excellent work product.
  • Agency and/or media experience preferred.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment a plus.
