Role Summary: KGBTexas, recognized by the Houston Business Journal as one of Houston’s Best Places to Work, is looking for a positive, energetic and resourceful team member with outstanding communications and organizational skills to help lead efforts for top-tier clients. Ideal candidates will have proven PR/media relations experience, social media skills and basic design capabilities, as well as proven ability to work as part of a high-performing team.

Essential Duties:

• Lead day-to-day activities of assigned accounts and collaborate with team members on strategy, planning and implementation.
• Cultivate and nurture strong working relationships with client contacts, understanding their business needs and delivering exceptional client service.
• Create and execute effective PR/PA/social strategies across multiple channels, including traditional and digital media.
• Foster relationships with key media contacts and stakeholders.
• Create thought-leadership content, including bylined articles, opinion pieces and other similar materials.
• Support social media efforts, including calendar development/management and content creation as appropriate.
• Support design and creation of professional-quality marketing materials, including sales sheets, newsletters, social-media graphics and other similar assets.
• Stay up to date on news, trends and events affecting clients’ industries, alerting clients and account teams to relevant information and opportunities as appropriate.
• Coordinate and support virtual and in-person events, including planning, scheduling and other similar activities.
• Work with account teams to manage budgets, alerting leadership to challenges or issues.
• Monitor, prepare and distribute client-communication materials, including campaign-performance reports, status reports, billing summaries, meeting agendas, meeting reports, earned-media coverage information and other items as needed.
• Support senior leadership team with crisis communications efforts as appropriate.
• Assist with business-development activities and pro-bono account work as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field.
• At least three years of relevant professional experience. Agency and/or media experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in AP writing style.
• Experience working with Canva or other design platforms a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must work well under changing and multiple deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a plus.
• Manage, prioritize and organize projects and initiatives with strong attention to detail and excellent work product.
• Work independently with limited supervision and relative autonomy, but also be able to work collaboratively within a team.
